ABOUT THE DORIS DAY HORSE RESCUE and ADOPTION CENTER:
The Doris Day Horse Rescue and Adoption Center is dedicated to advancing new approaches and pioneering innovative solutions to rehabilitating horses.
Some horses who have experienced cruelty or neglect—and may have lost trust in humans—have behavioral issues which can impact their chances for finding a new home. But those behavioral issues don’t have to be permanent.
Using natural horsemanship methods and proven techniques for humane training, the center will focus on creating a customized formula for the success for each horse, with the goal of preparing the animal for a loving home. This focus on the needs of the individual animal will create better outcomes for hundreds of horses who might otherwise have been abandoned, allowed to languish in a lonely paddock, or sold for slaughter.
Education and ongoing support for potential adopters and current horse owners will also be a priority at the center. The center will be offering a wide range of programs on equine wellness, riding, and humane horsemanship. The center will take a critical role in ensuring successful matches between adopters and horses.
