Fall in Athens, Texas is a colorful site to see.  Hay bales, pumpkins, gourds and scarecrows abound around the town square.  People come from all over the state to take family pictures.  So come on down and tour the square and shop in our shops.  Don't forget to visit the scarecrow trail at the Arboretum.

Turkey Trot at the Cain Center

For those health conscience souls who want to work off their Thanksgiving dinner before you eat it, run in the annual Turkey Trot.  Prizes will be given to winners of different categories.

Date:     Nov. 26, 2009 Thurs.

Time:    Race begins at 8am

Tis the Season....

It is hard to believe that Christmas is right around the corner.  Athens celebrates the season in style.  Our town square will be festively decorated.  There will be many events during the holiday season.

  • Check out the Events calendar so you don't miss the holiday bazaar's, Ladies Night Out and Guys Night Out shopping events.
  • Participate in Athens first ever "Reindeer Games".  Sign up at the Chamber of Commerce and earn points as you 'Shop til you drop' at participating retailers in Athens.  Save your receipts and turn them into the Chamber of Commerce.  Contestants with the three top point totals will win prizes.
  • Don't miss our Christmas Parade and annual Lighting of the Christmas Tree.
  • Don't forget to bring the kiddos down to the square to visit Santa Claus.
